Tonganoxie High School traveled to Ottawa on Thursday for their League competition. Runners had never competed on the course and it proved to be a challenging one that Tonganoxie conquered.
Varsity girls placed 4th overall as a team. Kristi Chambers received 2nd team honors, finishing 12th overall with a time of 21.54 and Kyleigh Thomas received honorable mention, finishing 15th with a time of 22.19. Kat Wombwell finished 22nd overall with a time of 22.59, Brooklyn Lang finished 30th overall with a time of 23.34, Mallory Dick finished 50th overall with a time of 24.50, Chyanne Aaron finished 51st with a time of 24.53.14, Grace Slabaugh finished 52nd overall with a time of 24.53.69, and Macy Geiger finished 52nd overall with a time of 25.02.
Individual results for JV runners, included Heather Wombwell who finished 65th with a time of 26.10, Clara Altenhofen finished 66th with a time of 26.14, Madi Schiffelbein finished 84th with a time of 28.25, Molly Cullen finished 85th with a time of 28.45, Emiline Liebeno finished 86th with a time of 28.48, Syd Angell finished 92nd with a time of 30.52 and Alaina Rogers finished 100th with a time of 35.20.
Top ten finishers for Tonganoxie will continue practicing this week and the top seven will compete at Regionals on Saturday, October 24th in Baldwin, KS for postseason. Congratulation to all runners on a phenomenal regular season!
