Both the JV and Varsity girls XC teams traveled to Perry to compete yesterday. It was a new course that included what some would call “real” cross country terrain. A portion of the course took runners through horse trails at the State park, making it impossible to pass other runners and gain positioning, as it was a single file trail. Surprisingly, it proved to be many of the Tongie runners favorite part of the race.
Varsity girls placed 2nd overall. Kristi Chambers finished 5th with a time of 23:23, Kat Wombwell finished 11th with a time of 24:24, Eva Romero finished 18th with a time of 24:44, Kyleigh Thomas finished 20th with a time of 24:46, and Brooklyn Lang finished 26th with a time of 25:08. However, it was our 6th runner who broke the tie with Anderson County and got Tongie the 2nd place win; Macy Geiger finished 28th overall with a time of 25:20.
JV girls finished 1st with 25 pts and all runners medaled. Heather Wombwell finished 3rd overall with a time of 26:43, Grace Slabaugh finished 7th with a time of 27:24, Clara Altenhofen finished 8th with a time of 27:33, Sydney Angell finished 13th with a time of 28:36, Chloe Temple finished 16th with a time of 28:59 and Chyanne Aaron finished 17th with a time of 29:01.
Both teams travel to Pleasant Ridge on Saturday, October 12th.
